Hello, my name isBrooke Bowman

and I’ve lived many lives. I’ve been a commercial fisherman, a sex worker, a drug addict. I spent 2.5 years homeless. Now I think a lot about happiness, community, culture, and how to create conditions where people are most likely to thrive. Some of that work finds expression through Vibecamp, a yearly gathering my Twitter friends and I first started dreaming up back in 2021.

Writing

I am writing a memoir! I may or may not post more personal essays as I continue along this journey—either way, following my Substack is probably the best way to stay updated if you’d like to read the book when it comes out in a few years. Or ten. We’ll see how quickly I can level up as a writer.

Pico

The first essay I’ve published about my history. I tell the story of how I met my cat Pico, and how he wound up getting me off the street.

Gatherings

I run events that encourage people to be human together. The comms are often a little chaotic, and prestige is de-emphasized. Kindness and prosociality are centered instead. I’m currently only working on Vibecamp, though I would love to experiment with longer event formats one day.

Vibecamp

Vibecamp is a four-day gathering for the curious, kind weirdos of the world, held every June in Maryland.
